When walking, take time to observe the plants lying flat on the ground or against the stone wall of the sidewalk, or pushing through the concrete of an abandoned building. What do you see? What do you think?
This is my unedited shot of the thistle-prickly leaves and stems. I had fun reading about it on the internet, and I will not rewrite the wheel. Do a Google search, easy!

Scripture Reflection: Proverbs 23:7
I love wildflowers and plants, and I see each one having a purpose on earth. I may not know all the purposes, but based on what I have read, they are more than just background greenery. They are the quiet lifelines of Earth.
They produce the oxygen we breathe, feed entire ecosystems, and stabilize the soil beneath our feet. Their roots hold landscapes together, while their leaves regulate climate and water cycles. From towering trees to humble herbs, plants offer shelter to wildlife and healing to humanity, both physically and spiritually.
Whether sprouting in untended corners or nurtured with intention, every plant contributes to the rhythm of life. Their quiet presence reminds us that they often move without spectacle, working in stillness, growing in silent obedience to the Creator of all things, fulfilling a purpose written into their DNA.
I found this thistle while walking in a field of wildflowers in the countryside. There were many of them, some small, others huge, like some space-like object.
It made me think.🤔
As I ask the question, ‘What is this plant? I have never seen it before.
It lay there without any fear and didn’t care what anyone thought of it.
So, I took a cellphone shot of it.
And then penned this prose,
‘Whatever a man thinks, so is he…’
The thistle does not care.
When one asks, ‘What is this plant?’
It grows where the soil is hard,
where the world has turned its back.
Yet in its heart, it knows what it is:
Resilient, radiant, unafraid.
“For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.”
This is not just a proverb; it’s a reckoning.
The thistle thinks strength, and so it becomes strength.
It thinks beauty, and so it blooms, even when called a weed.
Let us be like the thistle, rooted in truth,
Unmoved by rejection, we become what we believe
in the quietness of our hearts.
