Today’s Teachers

I first heard the word resilience used repeatedly at college during my ECE course. As I revisited the word, I realized that it has many meanings depending on the environment in which it is applied. I had to use it in a classroom of children facing many challenges. At first, I lost my patience, but I started watching how the classroom teacher did everything calmly. How she supported each child, maintaining compassion yet firmness.  The children tested me, and I felt I didn’t want to go into that field anymore. I kept observing at my placement and saw that this teacher carried a grace and resilience that I had to put into practice. For every other placement, I admired that teacher; she has truly impacted my life to walk in real resilience.
