Introduction to My Any Day Journal Series
The Any Day Journal was born from years spent in gentle contemplation, gathering moments in poetry, prayer, life perspectives, and personal anecdotes that blossomed with each flowing season. Think of it as a companion constantly accessible, ready to offer a word or thought that meets you right where you are.
Every entry is its own small world, inviting you to pause for reflection, find comfort, or simply breathe in a moment of calm. Moved through a sense of Divine guidance, I chose to open these once-private pages to you, hoping they offer encouragement, kindness, and the gentle reminder that you are never alone.
Please feel free to leave a comment or a takeaway that resonated with your soul.

The Pink Chair on the Riverbank
While crossing a quiet bridge in Alliston, Ontario, I spotted this pink chair resting peacefully by the riverbank. Something about its simplicity and unexpected charm caught my attention and inspired me to capture the moment. The scene felt serene and inviting, as though the chair was an unspoken invitation to pause, reflect, and be.
The lone pink chair, unpretentious yet deliberately placed by the flowing water or the youths living above the bluff, became a quiet metaphor for my soul’s longing for rest. In a world demanding constant productivity and noise, the chair did not strive or perform; it simply existed, resting in soft light and the river’s rhythm. This image mirrored my need to pause, sit, and breathe.
Too often, we ignore these gentle invitations from God, filling our days with worries and endless to-do lists. True refreshment comes not from striving, but from pausing in His presence. Scripture reminds us that rest is not laziness, but it’s a sacred gift, a deliberate act of trust. As Jesus Himself extends this call: “Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30 NKJV)
Here, our Saviour offers relief, not more effort. He invites the weary to trade their heavy burdens for His gentle guidance. Rest for the soul isn’t found by escaping life, but by coming close to Him, learning His unhurried ways and finding peace in surrender. Likewise, the writer of Hebrews echoes this promise of enduring rest for God’s people: “There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.” (Hebrews 4:9-10 NKJV)
This speaks of a spiritual Sabbath—a ceasing from self-reliant striving that mirrors God’s rest after creation. In Christ, our work is finished; we enter His rest by faith, trusting His work is enough.
The pink chair wasn’t waiting for permission to rest; it simply embraced the peace around it. May we do the same? Amid life’s currents, let’s spot those quiet invitations to sit with Jesus. Let His presence wash over our hurried hearts and remind us we’re loved for who we are in Him, not for what we do.
If your soul feels heavy today, hear the gentle call: Come, sit and rest.
A prayer to rest:
Father God, thank You for the quiet ways You call us back to Your rest. Teach us to release our striving, to lay down every anxious motion, and to receive the peace You have already prepared for us. Let Your presence calm our breath and renew our weary souls, through Christ Jesus, Amen.
